Kailasvasi, Vishnu Bhaskar Lele

Shri Vishnu Bhaskar Lele (henceforth referred to as Lele Guruji) was born on the 2nd of October 1920 at Wai, Satara. After completing his schooling, he joined the Central Defense Accounts (CDA-O) organization, a department under the Government of India (GoI). As he was transferred to various locations across the country during his service, he encountered a lot of health issues. Sometime in 1965. he met Hon. B. L. Vaidya, who was a renowned Yoga Acharya, and what he learned from Acharya Vaidya made an immensely positive impact on his life.

He experienced the benefits of Yoga not just in terms of improved physical and mental health, but also as improved performance at his workplace. These improvements motivated him to share his experiences with other people & he became enthusiastic about leading them towards the path of Yoga. He began by assisting Acharya Vaidya & eventually started conducting classes on his own, for small groups of people.

In 1975, he had the opportunity to train an ex-commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Mr. R. G. Gupte. The ex-commissioner was so pleased with the experience that he helped Lele Guruji establish his own classes. Thus, the Lele Guruji Yoga Varga came into existence at Nehru Stadium, Swargate on the 1st of May 1976.
